Channel Letters Baltimore — Types We Build
Every letter is a three-dimensional sign built to your logo and your building. Here's how the main styles light up (and when to use each).
Illumination Options
Front-Lit Channel Letters
LEDs inside each letter shine through a colored acrylic face. The classic, brightest choice for maximum day and night visibility.
Best for: retail strips, restaurants, busy roads.
Back-Lit / Halo-Lit (Reverse) Letters
Solid metal faces with LEDs shining backward onto the wall, creating a soft glowing outline around each letter.
Best for: upscale, professional and office looks.
Combo: Front-Lit + Halo
Lit faces and a halo glow behind them. Maximum presence after dark with a premium, layered look.
Best for: flagship locations and brands that want to stand out.
Open-Face / Exposed LED (Neon-Style)
Open-faced letters with visible LED or LED-neon light, for a vintage, marquee-style glow — a nod to classic Baltimore storefronts.
Best for: bars, diners, retro and boutique brands.
Non-Illuminated Letters
Fabricated aluminum or acrylic dimensional letters with no lighting. Clean and durable, with no wiring needed.
Best for: daytime businesses, lobbies, building IDs.
Custom Logos & Shapes
Your logo, icon or script built as a lit cabinet or shaped letters that match your brand colors exactly.
Best for: franchises and brand-matched storefronts.
Mounting Options
Raceway Mounted
Letters ride on a slim box painted to match your wall. All wiring stays hidden inside. Fewer wall penetrations, which landlords of leased storefronts often prefer.
Direct / Flush Mounted
Each letter is mounted straight to the building, with wiring run behind the wall. The sleekest, most minimal look.
Backer Panel Mounted
Letters mounted on a custom painted panel for extra contrast and depth, great when the wall color or texture fights the sign.

Channel Letter FAQs
How much do channel letters cost in Baltimore?
It depends on letter height, the number of letters, the lighting style and the mounting. Send us your logo and a photo of the building and we'll send a free drawing and an exact price.
What's the difference between front-lit and halo-lit letters?
Front-lit letters glow through their colored faces. Halo-lit letters have solid faces and shine light backward onto the wall for a glowing outline. A combo sign does both.
Raceway or direct mount, which is better?
Raceway keeps the wiring in one box with fewer holes in the wall, which landlords often prefer. Direct mount looks cleaner but needs access behind the wall for wiring. We'll recommend the right one for your building.
Do you install the letters in Maryland?
Your letters are built in our Florida shop and shipped to Maryland ready to install. We'll go over delivery and installation details with you when we send your quote.
Do you help with sign permits?
Yes. We prepare the sign drawings and specs needed for the Baltimore City or county permit application and for landlord approval packages.
How long does it take?
Timing depends on design approval, permits, fabrication and shipping to Maryland. We\'ll give you a realistic schedule with your quote.
